Somethin new goin down
I picked up a server for redhat, so I’m going to be doing some experimenting…
That’s right, experimenting for a new redhat server. I’ll be running FreeBSD 4.8 and Redhat 7.3, hopefully will be adept at system administration for both. I also want to play around with some hosting software, get into some $$ perhaps. I want them combined to be able to do the following:
DNS (thinking Redhat server for that)
Web Server (FreeBSD)
FTP server (FreeBSD)
File server w/Samba shares (FreeBSD)
MySQL server (Redhat)
Perhaps verious other functions. These will be behind my router so will have only 1 public IP :(, but i’ll survive.
Here are the stats of each computer:
FreeBSD server:
IBM P3 550 Mhz processor
256 Megs PC133 RAM
60 GB 5400 RPM HDD
RedHat Server
Digital PC (don’t ask) P2 350 Mhz
64 Megs RAM (to be expanded to 128 or 192)
6 GB 3600 RPM HDD
