New Phone: HTC Mogul

Because the wife needs a new phone, and because it was too good a deal to pass up, I just bought a Sprint HTC Mogul PPC 6800 on EBay.

$149.99 original price with Buy it Now.
-$15.00, -10% coupon in my ebay messages
+$6.99 shipping
= $141.98 paid.

(in 60 days)
-$45, -30% Microsoft cashback.

Overall amount: $96.98.

This Windows Mobile 6.1 device should be a good upgrade from my WM2003 Palm Treo 700wx, but I think the feature I’m most looking forward to is the GPS — and there’s gotta be some auto-geotagging settings.

I have an HTC Wing, which looks similar to this phone. My only complaint is the size is too big. I highly suggest flashing it with a new ROM (I use Open Touch) and installing Spb Mobile shell.

That’s amazing, there is tons of information about this device. Definitely lots to play around with. Thanks for the info, I’ll be learning a lot about this it seems.

I’ve had a mogul for a little over a year now. It’s a great phone that does everything I need. Considering when I bought it, it wasn’t on EVDO revA, and that the gps wasn’t active, I feel like I got a new phone with the more recent rom updates. It’s a little larger than I would like, but the fact that it has a keyboard puts it ahead of the iPhone in my book.

@br: It doesn’t have to make sense, go with it :)
@Brandon: yea I’m going to be testing Android on this phone at some point once it matures…

The only thing that really pisses me off is the fact that it doesn’t have a proper headphone jack. There is an adapter for it that will give you a headphone jack, but that’s a pain in the ass to carry around. I don’t use it as a media player anyway simply because I have an Ipod, but that pretty much kills its use as one reguardless.

I have to say, I run WM 6.1 on my Blackjack II, and I really do like the OS. Look into downloading a copy og Garmin XT, it is an incredibly powerful GPS app for WM.

Only thing that sucks is my Blackjack has no Touchscreen, which makes WM a tad less cool. Good luck with the phone though, it looks great. Specially for the price.
