New Laptop — Dell Vostro 1500?
I’m looking at getting a new laptop that doesn’t suck at gaming (like my 700m).
I’ve been looking at the Apple Macbook Pros, Dell Inspirons and most recently the Dell Vostro. The Vostro 1700 has a keypad on its keyboard, which I find a really bad decision. So, I’m looking at the Vostro 1500 right now. Decked out to specs that I’d be happy to use, it’s ~$1175 shipped including tax.
Now, to get the wife’s approval

Haha, I found this post via technorati helping you research the Vostro 1500 before my RSS reader got it
From what I can find, it seems like a solid computer. Haven’t seen any complaints except for the weight. I still think you should buy a mac, but given that they cost a lot more, this seems like a safe bet.

Yea, I’m not a hasty buyer. I’m still looking for deals.

I was heavily considering that for a time, but it’s roughly double the price…

Actually, you should get one of the $199 ASUS Linux laptops.

Yea, that’d be GREAT for gaming.

Maybe think about getting a solid state harddrive. They are supposed to be quieter, faster, and consume less power. I’m not sure if the Vostro has that option, but the Dell M1330 does.

I just purchased a Dell Vostro 1500 and love it. I am having a hard time though finding a custom-sized skin for it. Do you have any ideas?
Thanks!
