The battery on the iPod supposedly lasted 8 hours. When I received it, I updated the software on the iPod right away, and read the ‘good practices’ for battery usage on an iPod. I need to test out whether or not it actually lasts 8 hours when using good practices.

I charged it Sunday morning, then listened to it for about an hour in a very bad-practiced manner (i.e. backlight, switching songs, adjusting volume, etc). Monday morning I plug it into my car to listen to on the way to school and almost immediately it said “battery exhausted”. I find it somewhat hard to believe that the different between good practice and bad practice is ~500% battery life, but we’ll see.
