Excuse me, but what does PF3 stand for?
and I am under the impression that whereas the 1.3 (and .x) are under dispute about legality, but, isn’t ALL of 2 illegal?
Raybdbomb Said,

If you read some of the comments on the other two IPB posts, you’d find out that IPB2 was originally released under the 1.3 license, and thus free.
See this and this.

Hey Raybdbomb.
Thanks so much for providing these downloads. Are you positive this one is not illegal though? I just want to cover my bases. Thanks.

Oh, I just read those links you provided. Never mind. Thanks again for providing these downloads.

I’m really not sure. I would like to use this, as it is a good file, and seems to be legal.
But it does say that you can’t distribute it.
So I’m going to download the file and read the included license carefully, and if I have any doubt, won’t use it. But I’m an advocate of free software so am not going to report you to invision, but I’m not going to take the risk.
What do you think? Thanks.
Raybdbomb Said,
October 17, 2005 @ 2:17 pm
Yes but that license was for the latest version. Where’s the license for this version?
foo Said,
October 17, 2005 @ 7:35 pm
yes I see, and I mean no offense, but its just, I’m pretty sure there is something covering it… but hey I don’t know.
I don’t think they have a licence published for anything other than the latest version [whatever it is at the time] even though they say the other stuff is licenced. This is a little suspicious. However, fyi, IPB 1.3 at least is 100% legal because I emailed IPS and asked and they said it was.
Xyrael Said,

Interesting, foo, does that include 1.3.1? I’m assuming it does.

Actually… I have the free 2.0.0 version, and if I’m not wrong it’s newer. It’s also in PHP and not Zend encoded, if anybody wants it, I’ll upload it, but I’m not likely to see this site ever again, so email me at rocketsoft84 AT gmail DOT com and I’ll give you the link
Raybdbomb Said,

Actully I believe IPB 2.0.1 was the last free trial version. I have it. But i’m not sure if I’m allowed to use it anymore. I have to check the IPS license…

I have a question. How exactly does this work? Isn’t Invision online? What is the download for? How do I use it? Could anybody please explain all this or give me a link where there’s an explanation? I’m new to forums and I want to open one (a free one) and I heard Invision was one of the best. I thought it was online. Can anybody please explain this to me? What’s in the zip file? How do I use it? All that.. I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

go here: http://forums.invisionize.com/index.php
and read around, very helpful place.
In short, you download the .zip file above, and upload the files to your webspace, as instructed in the included documentation.

Somone told me to upload files I need an FTP server which I need to pay for. Is that true? Can I do this without paying?
anonymous2 Said,
December 23, 2005 @ 1:26 pm
there is no need for anything paid, as long as you can get your php and mysql hosted for free. search around and you can find free mysql and free php hosting services (they can be separate). also i emailed ipb and they said it was legal to sue as long as u downloaded it from them, but if you got it from somehwere like this then you cant. ive seen piracy reports on 2.0.0 and they dont do anything about it because the person couldve gotten it from them.

OK. Got it.
Thanks very much johan and anonymous2.

Hi, thanks for this download, but I would just like to ask, how come http://www.invisionpower.com does not offer this file at their site? What proves this to be a legal file? Thanks alot

Karen-
I also wonder this. IPS only hosts their latest files, so I guess that would be the reason…
