thanks, i called up dell and after speaking to 5 call support/technical engineers (luckily the last one was actually helpful), I found out the original video driver release was A08.

so found the link here, hope it helps someone else - http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/previousversions.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&SystemID=INS_PNT_PM_700M&releaseid=R105909&vercnt=4&deviceid=3110&formatcnt=1&releasetype=DRVR&servicetag=&catid=&libid=6&impid=&osl=en&os=WW1

after installing this i got back the correct menu options but I was told that probably because now im trying to connect to a 42" plasma tv, the dell gfx card wont support the high resolution.

i'll try asking on 700musers.com though, its a useful link. thanks!!

I doubt it's because you installed the OEM version of XP. I seem to remember that message at some point too.

Yeah, you should be on the GMA, not the Extreme Graphics. I'd ask on 700musers.com, it might take a few days for an answer, but it's better than just asking me, I don't even have a 700m anymore...

Hi, sorry this is a really old post but I was hoping you could help. I have a dell 700m too which has served me very well for the past few years but recently I had to reformat the entire thing due to a rootkit infection.

after reinstalling the OEM HomeXP that came with the laptop, I cant use my TV-out anymore! I used to do this fine, but now when i connect the cable, it doesnt show me the "Graphics Options>Output To" menu anymore! (ok *sometimes* it does, but even then immediately disappears).

I strongly believe this is due to the drivers on the Dell website not being the correct ones. I definitely do remember having a "Intel Graphics Media Accelerator" instead of the crappy "Intel Extreme Graphics 2 for mobile" that was on the dell site. (this is also what intel says we should have! http://support.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/CS-004653.htm)

I also tried installing the "win2k_xp1415.exe" that you mentioned in your post above, but unfortunately the comp won't let me install, and shows the following error msg:

"The driver cannot be installed on this computer. Please contact the computer's manufacturer for further information"

Erg, which basically means none of the drivers from Intel site will work for me!

Is this because I installed the OEM version of XP Home? I believe you probably reformatted and installed your own version of XP Pro, are you able to see the "Graphics Options>Output To" menu when you right-click on ur desktop?

In addition, after reformatting I also dont get the audio/volume indicators on the screen anymore! I read somewhere this is called "quicksetup" but its not available on the dell website!

Hoping you can help, thanks! =)

Did you read the manual? Go to Dell and search for the manual to find it.

The graphics driver needs to be downloaded from Dell as well.

Hi Bcry-

Typically when I install fresh, Windows can't find the ethernet driver.
Options:
*) Burn this file to a cd, downloaded from Dell's website.
*) Use the Dell Driver CD that came with it.
*) Put it on a pen drive.

Once you have the ethernet driver, you can get the rest from the website. The website is better than the driver CD, because they're more updated.

Raybdbomb you are really D bomb!!, you patience ,expertise shine through very clearly. I learnt a LOT from just scrolling this page.

A quick question have 700m extended battery XP home, plan to install XP pro OEM fresh install "on the get go" hehe mebe partition with linux

I was wondering, if i have issues with drivers like some others have, it should be resolved with the Drivers CD i had shipped with system or via driver websites? yes or no ?

Any suggestions/ recommendations
Thanks.
