I didn't have purple, but I had streaking purported to be faulty CCD components. I received the repaired camera back in ~10 days, free of charge. Problem is, now that the CCD is fixed, the tape motor doesn't want to play nice. It consistently says the tape needs to be ejected. Oh well.
