It Matters Where You Go To College

I was informed by another manager in Oracle that all college graduate candidates have to come from Oracle’s college recruite program, which has a list of college schools it takes candidates from. University of Portland is not one of them.

So wait, you mean I just wasted $80k+ in tuition and expenses, not to mention the $100k+ of opportunity cost just to be told that where I went wasn’t good enough?

After all, it is an ABET accredited Computer Science program

University of Portland
Portland, OR

Date of Next General Review: 2009 – 10
Computer Science BS [2004]

I thought I was looking at the opportunity of a lifetime, when it turns out I was never given a chance…

Edit: I just got a call, it’s back on!

2003 Chrysler Sebring

Since my car died, we bought a new one, a 2003 Chrysler Sebring.

Yes we overpaid, but it was most everything we wanted in a car.

Griffin Powerpod Review

A couple of weeks ago, I purchased a Griffin Powerpod, a car charger for my iPod 4th generation, 20GB. (It came in 3 days, by the way.)

I’ve been using it to power my iPod on the go, and listen to it while it is powering. It powers my iPod about 1/4th to 1/2 of the way on my 15 minute drive, enough to listen to at work for about 4 hours. It was really easy to setup and use, and I’m very glad I purchased it.

Overall, for price and ease of use, I’d rate it a 10/10.

What the Heck, Amazon?

I placed an order with Amazon for some small items on July 25th for 3 items that qualified for the Free Super Saver shipping. Finally today (12 days later), I receive an e-mail saying that ONE of the three items has shipped, and is expected to arrive “August 31, 2006 – September 18, 2006″. Yes, that’s right, somewhere between 27 and 46 days from now!!

That can’t be right… how long could it take to ship a car charger for my iPod, a car charger for my wife’s phone, and dog nail clippers?
